Pattern notes:

  • Seam allowance is ¼in unless noted otherwise.
  • WOF = width of fabric: assume 18in x 21in for Fat Quarter (FQ), and 9in x 21in for Fat Eight (FE).

Fabric Requirements:

(25 blocks + corners set on point | 4 1/2in unf. block size)

Color A (cA) = Khaki

 1 FQ

Color B (cB) = Denin

 1 FE

Color C (cC) = Gold

 1 FE

Color D (cD) = Garnet

 1 FQ

Color E (cE) = Monarchs

 1 FE

Color F (cF) = Forest

 1 FE

Backing

2/3 yd

Binding

1/4yd

Batting

26in x 26in

Cutting instructions:

  • Color A = Cut (2) 4 1/2in x WOF; sub-cut (8) 4 1/2in squares.
  • Color B = Cut (2) 2 1/4in x WOF; sub-cut (16) 2 1/4in squares.
  • Color C = Cut (2) 4 1/2in x WOF; sub-cut (6) 4in squares (Cut these squares ONCE in half on the diagonal); AND cut (2) 2 1/2in squares.
  • Color D = Cut (4) 2 1/2in x WOF; sub-cut (16) 4 1/2in x 2 1/2in rectangles.
  • Color E = Cut (3) 2 1/2in x WOF; sub-cut (18) 2 1/2in squares.
  • Color F = Cut (2) 2 1/2in x WOF; sub-cut (16) 2 1/2in squares.
  • Binding: Cut (3) 2 1/2in x WOF strips.

Block construction:

  1. First, draw a diagonal line on the back of all Color B (2 1/4in squares).
  2. Using the stitch and flip method, align (1) Color B square right sides together on (1) corner of each Color A squares. Sew on the line. Cut 1/4in far from the seam, flip the tip and press.
  3. Repeat this method on (8) triangle parts of Color C fabric as well.

  1. Next, sew (16) pairs of Color E + Color F AND (2) pairs of Color C + Color E.
  2. Now we have all parts needed to sew the quilt top together.

Assembling the blocks:

  1. Following the chart below, sew the blocks, then sew the rows.
  • (16) blocks of Color D + the pair of Color E + Color F.
  • (8) Color A squares with Color B tip.
  • (1) four-patch of Color C + Color E.
  • (4) Color C triangles.
  • (8) Color C triangles with a Color B tip.

7. Sew the rows as shown in the chart below

8. Press the entire top, baste and quilt using your preferred methods.

9. Bind using your favorite method.
Congratulations!! You’ve finished your project!
