Week #2 - Continuing from last week.

Take those 60 Half Square Triangle Units, sew them into 12 sets of 5 units each as shown and then set them aside for next week.

Next sew Rectangle C to Rectangle G as shown:

Sew a Rectangle D to a Rectangle H as shown:

Then repeat with the remaining Rectangle D and H. (Two D/H units total)

Sew a Rectangle E  to a Rectangle I as shown:

Then repeat with the remaining 3 sets of Rectangle E and I. (Four E/I units total)

On the wrong side of the Square J’s draw a line from corner to corner as shown:

Now taking ten of Rectangle A’s and ten of the Square J’s,

One at a time, place a Rectangle A right side up and a Square J right side down (so right sides facing each other) in the upper left hand corner as shown:

Sew ON the drawn line or just slightly on the ‘corner’ side of the line as shown:

Trim away corner 1/4” from the sewn line as shown:

Press Square J over to the missing corner and trim corner square.

Repeat this process with the remaining 9 Rectangle A’s and 9 Square J’s. Then repeat again with 5 Square B’s and the remaining 5 Square J’s:

Next we will create “Leaf Units One, Two, and Three”

Sew one Square B of background fabric, one A/J Rectangle Unit, and one B/J Square Unit into a row as shown:

Then Sew 8.5” long E/I Unit to the side of this. Press toward the E/I Unit.

        Trim to 4.5” x 8.5” if needed:

This is a Leaf One Unit. Repeat to create four total of Leaf One.

Now sew one Square B of background fabric, two A/J Rectangle Units, and one B/J Square Unit into a row as shown:

Then Sew the 12.5” long C/G Unit to the side of this. Press toward the C/G Unit.

        Trim to 4.5” x 12.5” if needed:

This is the Leaf Two Unit.

Now sew one Square B of background fabric and two A/J Rectangle Units into a row as shown:

Then Sew 10.5” long D/H Unit to the side of this. Press toward the D/H Unit.

        Trim to 4.5” x 10.5” if needed:

This is a Leaf Three Unit. Repeat to create two total of the Leaf Three.
